Our story

As you probably guessed, there are two of us (that is why we need 2 tickets). 🙂

Gašper (writing) and Maruša (photographing) from Slovenia. Small, but beautiful country on the sunny side of Alps (we will try to share some of it on this blog).
We have steady jobs, which we really like, our own flat , no kids and are in our best years (around 30).

Our travel blog is a bit different. We have done quite a lot of traveling before starting a blog. We are not all-year round travelers (wish we could be), but we travel quite frequently. Probably some of you will ask: why didn’t you blog before?

Yeah really, why now?

We have never seen our travels as something that we would share. Our opinion is that traveling is for the people traveling. But for every trip, we did a lot of research (well, Maruša did, I am more like a tourist) of what to see and what to do. We didn’t check just travel guides, but did a lot of research on web, also read a lot of blogs. Getting ideas from other blogs and not sharing yours sound a bit selfish, I know. So here is your answer to why now:

  1. We would like to share our trips with our friends (so dear friends, no need for “How it was?” questions, here you will find your answers). 🙂
  2. We would mostly like to give something back to community. Our trips were kind of special, where we saw some things that guides are not mentioning it. Now we are sharing them, so that others can see and visit.

We hope that you will like our blog. We would be very glad if you comment and correct our mistakes, so that we can share correct and accurate information to others.

  1. I’m also blogging about past trips and I find it very refreshing! It gives you good perspective on the things you’ve done in the past, and looking at the pictures again and writing about it allows me to completely relive it. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!

  2. This sounds exactly like me! I too have traveled a lot, but I never really thought about sharing my travel stories and tips through a blog…until about two months ago! Whether I’m traveling or not, I read travel blogs religiously either to get information or because I love to read about all things travel. I can’t wait to hear more about your adventures. I’m also a huge fan of Slovenia! I traveled there a few years back — it’s an amazing and beautiful country and I would love to read more about travel in your country!

    • Yes, we believe that information found on travel blogs is the best one. This way we can see and read about different experiences, about which guide books don’t tell us.
We will try to share information about our country as well, since more people every year decide to visit it. It’s great to hear you loved the time you spent here. Which places did you visit?

  3. hello, I just found your blog via your comment on my thread about Ubud on LP traveller forum! I will add you to my blog reader. Me and my husband are from Poland and have recently got the travelling bug. We write a blog on http://www.strollingabout.blogspot.com (I’m a medical student so I write about that from time to time as well). Love your blog so far!

  5. Nice blog…and the pictures are awesome. What camera do you use? My wife and I are also avid travelers and I just started writing about our adventures. Unlike you however, I write AND take the pictures…but I feel like I have to be in the “right mood” to write about our travels. I, too, have selfish reasons for writing the blog…and sharing it is actually just second in importance to preserving our travels for the when our memories aren’t quite as sharp years down the road.
I like to say pictures tell a story…but pictures accompanied by words…those are what epic stories are about.

    • Thanks.

I would definitely agree with a saying, that pictures say more than 1000 words, but they are really just catching the moment. Sometimes picture is hiding something known only to the author and that is why it needs some explaining. I also need a mood for writing it is not so simple just to sit down and start writing (for example, just yesterday i was in a “mood” and wrote stories for the next four posts). The fact, that we are just putting together the pieces from the past makes it a bit easier, but still.
The idea about preservation of travels sound very interesting and i would adopt it (if you won’t mind). 🙂 But it is hard to really save it all, because some of the things are to intimate to share and should stay just for the travelers.
Maruša uses Nikon D3000 with Tamron 18-270 zoom lens. We took the underwater pictures with Nikon Coolpix S30 waterproof camera.
I see, that you are planning a visit to Dubrovnik. It is definitely worth visiting and you should also take a trip to surrounding places (like Cavtat). And also Santorini, which is our next travel (in September). 🙂

  6. I’m of a similar mindset, and just started writing down my travel adventures a couple of months ago. I’m also doing it for somewhat selfish reasons, just to make sure I don’t forget them myself! 🙂 I’m really enjoying your blog, looking forward to reading more.

    • Thanks. 🙂 Whatever the reason, it is good to write your memories down. We have decided to write about some our trips in the past and we are already having problems with some details (and we are still young). 🙂 So just keep on going.

  7. Thank you so much for checking out my blog, Gašper! Unlike you and Maruša, I was only bit by the travel bug last year. Your travels are inspirational – I will certainly be using some of them as a guide for my future travels!
I wish you both the best – beautiful pictures and wonderful travels!
